When the Earth Tilted: A 5-part online experience

When life hits you with a Mars-sized planet, tilt.

Long, long ago, 4.5 billion years back, something enormous happened. A wandering, Mars-sized planet collided with Earth.

From that cosmic meeting, the Earth leaned, more than a little, 23.5 degrees to be near exact.

That small, permanent tilt invited something magical and fragile: The seasons. Change. Cycles of heat and cold, becoming and unbecoming.

And now, it can feel like we are living through another kind of tilt.

For some, the tilt arrives as illness.

For others, as the uneasy feeling of systems wobbling, politics drifting, certainty loosening.

For all of us, there is the quiet knowing: the planet itself, in its state of peril, is asking something new of us.

So what do we do when something monumental touches our lives? How do we lean when every instinct says stay upright, stay safe, retreat to the perpendicular of the known?

In this 5-part experience we will delve into the unsettling worlds of things that become unsettled, not in a search for a remedy – a making straight what is tilted – but rather in attending to the tilt with an oblique confidence, a sideways knowing that only stars and planets seem to understand.

Together, we step gently into worlds that are becoming unsettled, not to fix them, but to meet them with curiosity, courage, and a little cosmic wonder that invites the beauty of the seasons.

About Mark Stolow

Mark is the Founding Director of People Before Patients.

For decades, he has explored one central question: How can we live with more meaning, more beauty, and more spacious ways of seeing?

Mark treats problems as invitations, doorways to new perspectives. And when perspective widens, problems often loosen their grip.

For over 20 years, he has walked beside people through change - from organizations reshaping themselves, to individuals discovering new ways of being alive.

Together, the work becomes an art: Learning to see the differences that truly make a difference.

I have shifted from discomfort to embrace curiosity, inviting the practice of possibility that comes through examining the stories that shape us. I have discovered some orienting principles that will serve me. I have learned that we become what we practice and so we must choose to practice wisely.
