RESTORING A SENSE OF JOY IN HEALTH CARE PRACTICE

For many professionals, health care practice can feel like a steep climb - endless demands without moments of rest, reflection, rejuvenation, and perspective taking.

The side effects of this exhaustion are more and more health practitioners who are suffering – burn out, mental health issues, and suicide rates are rising. The steepness of health care’s demands in an increasingly complex world is making health practitioners unwell, often asking them to practice in ways they know under serve their clients.

People Before Patients is working in partnership with a network of health practitioners to create Basecamp, a place from which we can renew people and practice.

Our first intention is to initiate gatherings of cross disciplinary health care practitioners. We begin by simply holding space - a place to catch their breath, feel the ground beneath their feet, and restore a sense of calm. From this place, we can begin to listen and to share with a view on deepening our understanding of the experience of health care practice from the perspective of those who are living it day to day.

If you are in professional health care practice and are looking for a refuge – a place of renewal and reconnecting – you are invited to JOIN US. Basecamp takes place the third Thursday of every month from 7:30 pm to 8:45 pm EDT.
